ABOUT THE ARTIST

Gabriela Aleksandra Szuba, known as GAS, is a Polish artist based in Italy. After an education in economics, she embraced an independent artistic path driven by introspection and the desire to give visible form to the invisible. Her meditative paintings—crafted with acrylics, crackle paste, pigments, and gold leaf—explore fragility, time, and transcendence, turning matter into memory and light into spiritual presence. Exhibited internationally, her work invites silent reflection and emotional resonance.

ARTWORK STORY

Gold flowing through the cracks. Greys, beige, natural. And then the ochre red, Mars red: touches that cut through the surface like deep breaths, like ancient wounds. Slow drips. Matter that opens and closes. Chrysos – from the Greek χρυσός, "gold". Not the shy gold that repairs, but the gold that celebrates the fracture. That crosses it, illuminates it, transforms it into a threshold.
