Pulse of the Universe

Every painting begins with something that quietly asks me to stop. My hope is that, every now and then, it might invite you to do the same. I paint contemporary abstract landscapes inspired by the quiet conversations between light, colour, sea and sky. Rather than capturing a place exactly as it appears, I follow the moments that keep drawing me back until they reveal something I hadn't noticed before. Each painting begins with a question rather than an answer. I don't set out to explain what you should see. I listen, return, and allow the painting to become what it wants to become. Somewhere along the way, I usually discover that it has been teaching me something too. Over the years I've realised that every painting belongs to a season of our lives. Some whisper through light. Others dance through colour. Together they have become two continuing collections: Where Light Whispers and Where Colour Dances. If one of my paintings quietly asks you to stay a little longer, then perhaps we've found each other.
