Ríc creates shambolic, layered compositions that explore the anxiety and confusion of navigating a life steeped in overstimulation and information overload while still searching for beauty and quiet moments. His art contemplates a life full of confusion and joy. Alongside his studio practice, Ríc writes about creativity, attention, failure, and the strange process of trying to make meaningful work in a distracted world.

ARTWORK STORY

This painting started as a representational take on a dead tree I found on a morning walk, but quickly evolved into a more expressive mixed media piece in which I pair a realistically painted tree with a childlike ghost on a saturated green background. Chopped up Polaroid photos and bubble wrap became part of the composition as I added pen scratching and intentionally hard to read lettering, mixing raw mark making with careful rendering to create and artwork that feels haunted yet playful.
