ABOUT THE ARTIST

My sculptures are an exploration of movement, balance,form and space, centered around traditional, genres such as the human form, landscapes, etc. The key element is that these ideas, are completely abstracted and transformed into sculpture. I work in the direct metal or constructed approach, starting with flat sheets of metal which are cut,rolled , formed and welded into shape. Colour features prominently in my work. I work out of my studio in Cape Town.

ARTWORK STORY

This sculpture is another in the series of abstract figures, stationary in pose ,with a strong sense of an onlooker ,an observer embodied in the artwork. A slightly whimsical and quzizical appearance, gives the sculpure a sense of inner life. This sculpture is made in alluminium , non corrosive with high gloss details contrasting with textured reigons. It is attached to a heavy galvinised steel base with a matt black powder coated texture. The sculpture is suitable for inside as well as outside
