ABOUT THE ARTIST

Susanne Kirså is a Danish bronze sculptor and painter who has worked professionally since 1996. Her sculptures explore human connection, love and the moments that give life meaning. She models and casts her bronze sculptures herself, bringing imagination and craftsmanship together throughout the process. Natural stone, which she selects and cuts herself, often becomes part of the work. Susanne has exhibited in galleries and companies across the Nordic countries and in Paris. Her clients include Lundbeck, Maersk, LEGO and Danske Bank. Commissioned sculptures hold a special place in her practice. Working from an idea, a photograph or a personal story, she creates sculptures in close dialogue with private clients and companies. She particularly enjoys giving form to something that matters to another person — a relationship, a memory or a shared achievement — and transforming it into a lasting work of art.

ARTWORK STORY

One of my signature motifs. The Heart Woman embodies strength and love, with a heart forming her chest. Each sculpture is one of a kind: I model every piece from scratch and cast it myself in bronze. She stands on a polar granite base, which I have carved by hand.
