Peter Vial (1957) is a self-taught Dutch visual artist whose work explores the relationship between material, form and transformation.
Since 2007, he has developed a multidisciplinary practice, moving from painting towards mosaic, sculpture and mixed media. His work combines traditional materials such as ceramics and glass with unconventional elements, including discarded textiles, denim and found objects.
Rather than concealing the history of his materials, Vial embraces their imperfections, textures and previous lives. Fragments become building blocks, and everyday objects are transformed into expressive, often organic sculptural forms.
His work moves between control and surrender, allowing materials to influence the creative process. Themes of identity, vulnerability, connection and renewal run throughout his practice.
Guided by his personal motto, *“Watch with your gut, listen to your soul,”* Vial invites viewers to look beyond the surface and discover their own meaning in his work.
