Karin Rieder is a contemporary abstract painter based in Vienna, Austria. Over around fifteen years of artistic practice, she has developed an intuitive approach to painting in which colour, movement and texture shape each composition. Her paintings begin with a mood or sensation. Working in layers, she allows gestures, contrasts and surfaces to guide the developing image. Architecture, interiors, fashion, travel and music inform her sensitivity to rhythm and space, finding expression in the interplay of structure and spontaneity. Her work moves between vivid chromatic compositions, atmospheric horizons, flowing organic forms and restrained, earthy palettes. Across these different series, an interest in depth, balance and the emotional presence of colour connects her evolving visual language. Each painting is a unique, signed original, created by hand in her Vienna studio. Rieder’s works invite viewers to form their own associations and discover details over time. Her attention to the relationship between painting, light and architecture gives each work a distinct presence within the space it inhabits.
