ABOUT THE ARTIST

Lisa Carney is a Canadian contemporary abstract artist whose paintings explore the emotional connection between colour, landscape, and memory. Originally from Quebec's Gaspé Coast, she draws inspiration from the open fields, coastal horizons, and wild gardens of her childhood. Working intuitively with acrylics, she creates atmospheric compositions where delicate botanical gestures, layered textures, and unexpected colour combinations evoke a sense of freedom and tranquility. Her recurring drips symbolize roots, origins, and the passage of time. Both romantic and expressive, her paintings invite viewers to pause, breathe, and discover their own personal connection to the work. For Lisa, painting is much like singing a song with colour.

ARTWORK STORY

A pale blue-green sky opens above narrow bands of rust, deep green, and green-gold. Below, turquoise and darker aquatic tones gather into a broad field marked by flowing drips. Part of the GeoHorizon series, Green Current balances the stability of a distant horizon with a sense of colour continuing beneath the surface. Bright, bold, and spacious, the painting evokes the meeting of land, water, and coastal light.
