Germination

My work explores our relationship with the Earth, the spaces we inhabit, and the natural processes that shape them. Moving between painting, architecture, and permaculture, I investigate how our understanding of soil as a living system can change the way we perceive and inhabit our environment. Painting allows me to explore this relationship through materials and sensory experience. I seek to invite viewers to look beyond the surface and see the Earth anew. Working with layers of pigment, paper, wax, and oil, I explore processes of accumulation, erosion, growth, and transformation. Surfaces are built, disrupted, and reworked, allowing unexpected relationships to emerge. The paintings are not representations of particular landscapes, but material investigations into the forces, rhythms, and fragile conditions that shape them. My work is informed by both research and direct engagement with the land. The principles of permaculture—observation, interdependence, regeneration, and working with natural processes—resonate with my approach to painting. Both involve an ongoing dialogue between intention and what emerges. At its core, my work asks how a deeper awareness of the Earth might change not only the way we see our surroundings, but the way we relate to them.
