Calle Mayor- Palencia

Tomás Castaño is a Spanish realist painter born in Santander in 1953. Self-taught, he has built an artistic career focused primarily on depicting urban landscapes, historic facades, traditional taverns, and architectural corners steeped in atmosphere and memory. Key characteristics of his work include: Highly precise realism, featuring solid draftsmanship and meticulous control of perspective. An interest in traditional architecture, particularly old buildings, streets, and historic storefronts. Natural light and serene atmospheres that convey nostalgia and evoke the passage of time. A frequent absence of human figures, allowing the spaces themselves to take center stage and suggest the presence of those who once inhabited them. Throughout his career, he has exhibited both in Spain and internationally, participating in shows and art fairs in countries such as the United States, South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, India, France, Portugal, and Germany. He also represented Cantabria at the 2005 Florence Biennale and has won various national and international awards, including honors at Art Revolution Taipei and the American Art Awards.
