ABOUT THE ARTIST

Stéphane Dillies' paintings have been showcased internationally, from France to Qatar. Based in Brussels, the artist captures photographs of discarded trash he encounters around the world, transforming these images into compelling works of art. Each piece is titled with the GPS coordinates of the garbage it depicts. Focused on themes of chaos, his art reflects contemporary landscapes that highlight the futility of modern society. A figurative painter, Dillies also creates abstract works, layering oils and acrylics with multiple glazes to achieve depth and texture.

ARTWORK STORY

This painting, part of the "Trash" series, depicts a detailed close-up of discarded items in a trash can, inspired by photographs taken in Harlem, Upper Manhattan, near the iconic Apollo Theater.
