ABOUT THE ARTIST

db Waterman is a Dutch contemporary artist based in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. Her work explores memory, freedom, human connection and the beauty of imperfection. Combining layers of paint, transfers, drawing and rich textures, she creates atmospheric landscapes and figurative works that balance abstraction with recognizable elements. Inspired by weathered urban surfaces, nature and the passage of time, her paintings tell stories about the things we don't want to lose: our memories, our humanity and our sense of hope. Her work is held in private collections in more than 15 countries.

ARTWORK STORY

AS SUMMER FADES is an original, abstract beach landscape. A young child sits alone on the beach in a vast, nearly empty landscape. The soft, weathered colors and the subtle look of an old photograph give the work a strong vintage character, as if you were looking back at a faded memory of a long-gone vacation. The work is about the memories we hold onto of summer, the beach, vacations, and youth. Memories that fade over the years but never completely disappear.
