ABOUT THE ARTIST

S Kendall Osborne is a professional oil painter based in San Francisco, California. Known for her striking urban realism, bird portraits, and hybrid style which blends figurative with contemporary abstraction, she draws rich inspiration from everyday observation - capturing the architectural beauty, vibrant transit corridors, figuration, and luminous streetscapes of the city into compositions that feel deeply familiar and inviting. Working from her Mission District studio, she creates oil paintings and chine collé prints that celebrate the rhythm of coastal California life. She paints with purpose, deliberately leaving traces of process, underpainting, and visible brushwork exposed. Her highly collectible artworks are held in private collections across the United States and internationally.

ARTWORK STORY

This work explores a candid urban scene, capturing everyday moments of transit and human movement. Drawing influence from modern figurative realism and street photography, I combine structured color blocking and vibrant shadows with expressive, visible brushwork—deliberately leaving traces of the painting process exposed to highlight the artwork's materiality.
