I have been painting since I was 15, though later in life I moved on to photography, a field in which I became well-known. Yet, one’s true nature always finds a way to surface; the feeling I get when painting—watching something emerge right there beneath my hands—is something I do not experience with photography. In my abstract works, I feel a sense of freedom: the piece does not have to represent anything; it is allowed to simply be itself.
My abstract work explores relationships, identity, and the balance between self and other. For a long time, I believed I had to adapt myself to others to connect with them. Now, I explore how relationships truly work: through mirroring, through difference, or by simply being fully yourself. My paintings reflect this ongoing search for connection without losing your own identity.
