ABOUT THE ARTIST

Michaël Brack is a French painter and draftsman whose oils, inks, and charcoals evoke unsettling atmospheres of emptiness and solitude. Inspired by his own photographs, he distills scenes into minimal yet powerful images—winding passages, corridors, and stairs that open onto a universe of haunting strangeness.

ARTWORK STORY

I created this work shortly after seeing the film “Daughters of darkness,” a vampire story set in a deserted palace by the sea during the winter season. I wanted to play on the contrast between the warmth of the room and the character and the coldness of the night.
