Michaël Brack is a French painter and draftsman whose oils, inks, and charcoals evoke unsettling atmospheres of emptiness and solitude. Inspired by his own photographs, he distills scenes into minimal yet powerful images—winding passages, corridors, and stairs that open onto a universe of haunting strangeness.

ARTWORK STORY

I had been thinking about a character looking through the window of an electrical substation for a very long time. I used this idea when I started painting this tower, which became an electrical tower as I worked on it. The almost empty and misty background reinforces the dreamlike quality of the scene, which is a little more pronounced than usual...
