I am an artist who works at the intersection of the personal and the universal, the tightrope every painting is balanced on. My canvases are stages: geometry and physics carry as much narrative weight as colour, tone, and gesture.
My work is steeped in the human story; play, philosophy, ecology, our need for connection and love, and the vulnerability of the individual within the vastness of everything. I grew up in Zambia, where early exposure to Shona sculpture still shapes how I build a figure: androgynous, solid, earthbound. Giotto's flattened space within one-point perspective remains a quiet reverence; the gestural mark-making I trust instinctively owes much to Rothko and de Kooning. Colour, for me, is sound; harmonious, surrounding.
Every piece begins with the drive to communicate an idea: an exploration of our nature, the journey of the separate self, a desire to express our tender vulnerability. That ripple of constant energy runs through every work I make.
I paint from the growing understanding, through neuroplasticity, psychology, and consciousness, that we create our own reality. My intention is to make the unconscious visible: to show that beneath our humanity we are connected, even as I ask harder questions in a time of angst, uncertainty, and polarisation.
