Beyond the White Cube: Art Gathering Brings Artists and Audiences Together
Under the motto “Art doesn’t have to be boring,” Art Gathering brings together painting, sculpture, photography and other artistic practices. The focus is not only on the works themselves, but also on the people and processes behind them.
This is also what caught our attention at New Art Day.
Art Gathering places particular emphasis on regional artistic communities. For artists, it creates opportunities to present their work, meet collectors and connect directly with new audiences. For visitors, it offers a chance to discover artists working closer to home, often outside the usual gallery and institutional circuits.
The first Art Gathering took place in December 2025 in Wetzikon, in the Zurich Oberland. A second edition followed only a few months later, bringing together a larger group of artists and visitors. From the beginning, David Majorek’s family has also been closely involved in the project, contributing ideas and helping shape its development.
The project is now looking beyond Wetzikon, with plans to bring the format to other locations across Switzerland.
For New Art Day, initiatives such as Art Gathering are particularly relevant because they create visibility for artists while building the kind of community, exchange and real connection around art that we value most.
We are pleased to support David Majorek and Art Gathering as the project continues to develop.
