ABOUT THE ARTIST

Michaël Brack is a French painter and draftsman whose oils, inks, and charcoals evoke unsettling atmospheres of emptiness and solitude. Inspired by his own photographs, he distills scenes into minimal yet powerful images—winding passages, corridors, and stairs that open onto a universe of haunting strangeness.

ARTWORK STORY

Here, the building is inspired by the rear of the Church of Saint-Julien le Pauvre, in the 6th arrondissement of Paris. The overall atmosphere is reminiscent of M.R. James' short story “The Count Magnus.”
