[Focus] Sumit Ratta, Pollinated breeze (2026)
Sumit Ratta, Pollinated breeze, 2026, Acrylic on canvas, 74 × 74 × 0.1 cm
In Pollinated breeze, Sumit Ratta organises the surface through a vertical chain of rounded forms that lock into one another. The repetition sets a pulse, while slight shifts prevent the structure from closing in on itself.
The palette moves from saturated blues to lighter greys and pale tones. These cool, restrained hues create a sense of air and circulation, allowing the forms to disperse across the surface without resistance. The paint is drawn across the canvas, softening edges and spreading the image as if carried by a current.
The title sharpens this reading. The composition suggests a process of diffusion, where elements circulate, connect and transform. Ratta brings the painting close to a quasi-kinetic state, where the surface feels activated from within and held in continuous motion.
