Born in 1965 in Reggio Emilia, Oscar Baccilieri explores diverse materials—canvas, cashmere, beeswax, marble, blotting paper, and copper—transforming them into dynamic artistic expressions. His work blends figurative and abstract elements through collage, watercolor, and acid painting, embracing a playful yet enigmatic aesthetic. Baccilieri invites viewers into a world of layered meanings, sparking curiosity and reflection on everyday reality.

ARTWORK STORY

The Nano-Nano series explores the interplay between freedom, fiction, and power by merging iconic fairy-tale figures with symbols of historical dictatorships and Western capitalism. Walt Disney’s seven dwarfs are reimagined as agents of totalitarian regimes and embodiments of capitalist contradictions. Set against golden Byzantine-style backgrounds, the characters retain their familiar traits while subtly embodying political allegories, revealing the double-edged nature of ideology and innocence
