[Focus] – Caroline Montigneaux, Lily verte

Caroline Montigneaux's resin sculptures function as contemporary totems, exploring representations of femininity through form and color.
Resin, 25 x 16 x 12 cm

With Lily verte, Caroline Montigneaux brings the universe of her Petites Nanas into three dimensions. Known for her vibrant use of color and playful forms, the artist translates her pictorial language into a sculptural object that is immediately recognizable. The glossy surface, saturated green tone, and simplified silhouette give the figure a strong visual presence while maintaining a sense of lightness and accessibility.

At the core of Montigneaux’s practice is a joyful and optimistic vision of femininity, friendship, and shared emotion. Introduced as resin sculptures in late 2024, the Petites Nanas move between pop art, design, and contemporary figurative sculpture, blurring the boundaries between art object and pop icon.

The absence of eyes is a deliberate poetic gesture, inspired by Saint-Exupéry’s idea that what matters most is invisible. Combined with the oversized sunglasses, it creates a subtle tension between concealment and expression, protection and self-presentation. Beneath its playful appearance, the sculpture reflects on identity, visibility, and the façades we construct.

Balancing humor, elegance, and symbolism, this work resists pure decoration. It offers a contemporary, humanist vision that is festive in form yet grounded in meaning.
